Em Nordwohlde, onde vou passar o meu aniversário, não ia ter festa, e eu sabia disso. Não importa muito que seja uma festa de aniversário, tanto é que eu nem disse pra ninguém que seria uma festa dessa natureza. Prometi feijoada. Nola e Alexis cancelaram a escalada, Ruben trouxe os meninos da Schneider Electrics mais cedo, porque ele tinha me visto preparar o pavê na noite anterior e sonhou com ele. As pessoas da B.00.74 desenharam um mapa pra Hayat, acharam os horários de ônibus pra ela na Internet e se despediram com "tot stracks" (até logo).
I needed a party in which I am the center of attentions. I wanted to cook for everyone, gather people from different environments and watch their interaction.
In Nordwohlde, where I will spend my birthday, there will be no party, and I just know that. It doesn´t matter if it is a birthday party. In fact, I didn´t tell people it was meant to be a birthday party. I promised them a feijoada. Nola and Alexis canceled their climbing, Ruben hurried the boys from Schneiedr Electrics to get home earlier, because he saw me preparing the dessert the night before and dreamed about it. The guys from the stagekamer drew a map for Hayat and looked up the bus schedule on the internet and said "see you later" to each other.
Os holandeses chegaram primeiro. Eles sabiam que possivelmente haveria mais gente na mesa, mas não suspeitavam que estaríamos os seis, completos, mais a Nola, na cozinha, tentando achar lugar na mesa ou em volta dela. De repente éramos 12.
The dutch arrived first. They knew that there would possibly be more people involved, but didn´t suspect we would be complete: the six of the house plus Nola. Suddenly, we were 12 people in the kitchen, trying to find some space on the table and around it.

Boti, Alexis e Clement, o mais novo membro da casa. Alexis continua chamando o Ruben de Cabrón, e o Clement foi batizado por ele de Cabroncito.
Clement is the newest member of the house. Analogous to Cabrón, he was baptized Cabroncito by Alexis.
Nan, Marilene e Isabelle. Marilene é nova na stagekamer, a B.00.74, e chegou uma semana antes da Hayat.

Hayat, Kaleem e Jonas. Apesar de eu não ter dito nada sobre o meu aniversário pra galera, me trouxeram presentes. Isabelle me deu Narcisos que ainda vão desabrochar - vou acompanhar o desenvolvimento de uma flor que tem um nome doido em inglês: Daffodil. Jonas, Jeroen e Isabelle fizeram um CD pra mim com as músicas holandesas mais obrigatórias de se ouvir. Muito da hora, ouvimos o CD durante a feijoada e nos divertimos com as "barangas", como diria o Renato. Parece ser coisa de lingüista que fica muito tempo preso em laboratório, sentado na frente do computador. No Lafape, Antônio, Célio e Renato passavam fins-de-semana inteiros baixando e organizando e gravando CDs com músicas bregas. Kaleem me deu um par de brincos. Muito bonitos, mas eu não tenho orelha furada. Mas são bonitos! Hayat me deu uma bandeja de nozes. Quanta coisa boa!!!!
Although I didn´t say anything about my birthday, they brought me gifts. Isabelle gave me Narcissus that will still have grow some bit until they open. They have a funny name in English: Daffodil. Jonas, Jeroen and Isabelle burned me a CD with all the must-know dutch music there is. Very nice, we listened to the CD during the feijoada and had a lot of fun with those pearls. It must be something peculiar to linguists who stay too much time trapped in their labs, sitting in front of their computers. At the Lab in Unicamp, Brazil, Antônio, Célio and Renato would spend entire weekends downloading, sorting out and burning CDs with crappy music. Kaleem gave a pair of earrings. Very nice, indeed, but my ears are not pierced. But they are beautiful! Hayat gave me a vessel of nuts. Yammi!
